Why Did I Create The Self-Care Rescue Kit?

I remember the exact moment I decided to create the Self-Care Rescue Kit!

What a week it had been! I had just experienced some unexpected moments and ended up jam-packing way too much into one week. How do I know this? Because I felt like I’d hit the “life has sucked the energy out of me” wall… again. Do you recognize that feeling? 

Let’s see, I worked 40 hours at my full-time job, recorded, and edited three 1-hour podcast interviews, cooked dinner every night, prepared lunches every morning, took care of my son, dog, husband, mother and worked 36 hours on my business. And I drank way too much coffee. 

As I was going along in my week doing all the things, it was not until I hit that wall and caught my breath that I realized that I had neglected myself. Feeling a lack of energy, positivity, and happiness is a sign that I needed to pay more attention to myself and how I was spending my time.

So the following day, after a bit of rest, I began to create the Self-Care Rescue Kit for those hectic, jam-packed days where I only had a short time to dedicate to making myself feel better. This way, when I only have 10 minutes or so, I could reach for it right away and not waste my precious time trying to find ways to look after myself. I tried it out for a couple of weeks, and it helped me immensely, so I knew it would help you too!

What Is In The Self-Care Rescue Kit? 

Well, in short, it’s a collection of resources that you keep on hand that can help you feel better when you’re struggling. The items in the self-care toolkit will help you feel great and things that will comfort you, make you happy and help you relax. The Self-Care Rescue Kit also includes an exercise that will help you create your very own Self-Care Toolkit that you can use when you have more time to dedicate to your daily self-care routine. However, the Rescue Kit was primarily created for those unexpected moments and emergencies where you need something here and now and only have 10 minutes to act on it.

Here’s the thing…

Most of us will find the time to help a friend or say yes to that “thing” even when we don’t have the time. We don’t give second thoughts to overextending ourselves when helping others. The problem with this is that saying yes to everything and everyone else can lead to stress, overeating, sadness, burnout, people-pleasing, addictions, chronic fatigue, anxiety, and many other negative things.

Sometimes we don’t realize that we are falling apart until it is too late, and then it is a state of emergency. The best practice to avoid all of these adverse outcomes is practicing daily self-care but let’s face it, sometimes we forget. After all, we are all human, so that is why I wanted to create something simple, quick and convenient that you can reach for during hectic times.

So, just like those first aid kits that we use after the “accident” has occurred, I have planned ahead and created a first aid kit for your self-care.
